Speaking with Julien Chièze, Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst has revealed that single-player PlayStation Studios games will be released on PC at least a year after their console counterparts. This is not surprising given how long it took for titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War to transfer from PlayStation systems. All live service games will simultaneously launch on PlayStation and PC on day one, which is a really smart move to foster a vibrant gaming community and possibly increase in-game revenue.

It took more than a year to port every single PlayStation 4 single-player game that is now accessible on the PC, as was already mentioned. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is the most recent of them, having debuted on the PlayStation 5 one year and nine months prior on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 12. Hopefully, additional major single-player games like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok will arrive on PC sooner than their predecessors did as PC continues to grow in importance for Sony. Hermen Hulst, CEO of PlayStation Studios, said the following to Reuters: The executive gave no other details about what these potential future investments may entail. While PlayStation has long had a presence in both the PC and mobile markets, neither has received the same attention as the company’s core console business. Although PlayStation’s entry into the PC market has been gradual, it appears the company plans to speed up the rate at which some of its most popular games are made available.  The PlayStation head’s announcement will likely disappoint die-hard console gamers. Since the release of “exclusive” titles on PC, many fans have questioned the “exclusivity” Sony touted as a selling point for its PlayStation machines. Sony intends to speed up the availability of single-player games on other platforms, which will unquestionably impact the console player base. With Sony’s declaration that exclusives might be released on PC within a year of their console debut, the counter-claim within the community that often highlights how there’s at least a few years before platform-jumping, is no longer relevant now. Sony has demonstrated how serious it is about the PC gaming market with this most recent statments. It will be interesting to see how the firm chooses to “entertain” their console fan base, as it is clearly being overlooked.
